"I had a brilliant experience with Caxton today, after unsuccessfully attempting to obtain travel vaccinations from my GP (or at least a written copy of my vaccination history) for many weeks. They fitted me in on the same day. I had a lovely lady speak to me on the phone, and 2 knowledgeable, efficient Pharmacists."

"Excellent small chemist in Widmore Rd, practically opposite Boots. My go to chemist in Bromley now as, surprisingly, they have been able to fill prescriptions when Boots have not had the medication required. Also they don’t have the queues and the regular “come back in 2 hours”instruction so no repeat queuing when you go back to collect your meds!! Highly recommend."

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions Bromley patients ask most often. Can't find yours below? Give us a call.

Where are you based?
Caxton Pharmacy is at 3 Widmore Road, in the main Bromley town centre — a short walking distance from both Bromley South and Bromley North stations, and a few minutes from The Glades. Public parking is available nearby. Full address, opening hours and directions are in the Location section below.
What are your opening hours?
Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm. Saturday, 9am to 5pm. We are closed on Sundays and bank holidays.
Do I need a GP referral to book with Caxton Pharmacy?
No. You can book directly with our team for travel vaccinations, weight loss treatment, blood tests and our other private services — no GP referral and no waiting list. A small number of NHS services are different: the stop smoking service, for example, is run by a separate local team and patients need to be referred by them first. We will tell you if that applies to you.
How quickly can I get an appointment?
Same-day and next-day appointments are often available, particularly for travel vaccinations and Pharmacy First. Book online using the button above, or call us on 020 8460 0377 and we will fit you in.
Which areas do you cover?
We are a community pharmacy in the centre of Bromley, and patients travel to us from across the borough and the surrounding areas — Beckenham, Shortlands, Bickley, Chislehurst, Hayes, West Wickham, Petts Wood and Orpington among them. There is no catchment restriction on our private services: anyone can book with us, wherever you live.
Are you an official Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre?
Yes. Caxton Pharmacy is registered with NaTHNaC as a designated Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre. That means we hold the Stamaril vaccine on site and can issue your International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) at the appointment. Not every pharmacy can do this — designation is a formal requirement, and many high-street pharmacies have to refer you elsewhere for yellow fever. Designated centres are listed on the official NaTHNaC register, so you can check ours before you book.
How far in advance should I book my travel vaccinations?
It is recommended that all vaccines are completed at least two weeks before you travel, so they have time to take full effect. If you have less than two weeks it may still be possible to obtain part protection — please contact us for advice rather than assuming it is too late.
What NHS services do you offer?
We dispense NHS prescriptions, and we offer NHS Pharmacy First for seven common conditions — appointments are 15 minutes and can be booked online. NHS emergency and hormonal contraception is also available here as a free service. If you are unsure whether something is available on the NHS, call us and ask.
Can I book my NHS flu or COVID vaccination through this website?
No. NHS flu and COVID-19 vaccinations are arranged through the NHS national booking service, not through this site. Booking here would reserve a private appointment instead, which you would be charged for. If you are not eligible for a free NHS jab, we do offer flu vaccination privately — give us a call and we will talk you through it.
When and how do I pay?
For private services, payment is taken during your appointment at the pharmacy — there is nothing to pay when you book online. NHS services such as Pharmacy First and NHS contraception are free. Standard NHS prescription charges apply to prescribed medicines unless you are exempt.
Is the pharmacy wheelchair accessible?
Yes. We provide wheelchair access via a portable ramp — please ask a member of the team and we will bring it out for you. If it would help to know we are expecting you, call ahead on 020 8460 0377.
Are your consultations confidential?
Yes. Every consultation takes place in our private consultation room, and everything you share stays between you and your clinician.
Are your treatments and vaccines UK-licensed?
Every medicine and vaccine we dispense is UK-licensed, sourced from regulated suppliers, and handled by GPhC-registered pharmacists. Caxton Pharmacy has served Bromley since 1982 and is registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
