Facial pain, pressure and a blocked nose that will not settle? Our pharmacists can assess and treat sinusitis on the NHS for anyone aged 12 and over — including antibiotics where they are clinically needed. No GP appointment.
The NHS sets the criteria nationally — if you fall outside them, we will point you to the right service rather than turn you away.
Adults and children aged 12 and over.
In these cases we will refer you to your GP, NHS 111 or emergency care — whichever your symptoms need.
Most sinusitis is viral and clears on its own — our pharmacist will assess you against the NHS criteria, explain what is actually going on, and recommend effective symptom relief. Where the assessment shows a bacterial infection that needs it, we can supply antibiotic treatment under the national protocol, on the spot.
The consultation is free. If a prescription medicine is supplied, the standard NHS prescription charge (currently £9.90 per item) applies unless you are exempt — the same as at your GP.
No GP referral, no NHS registration needed. Just come in while we're open — or ring ahead to check the quietest time.
A trained pharmacist assesses your symptoms against the NHS criteria in our private consultation room — usually 10–15 minutes.
Where treatment is clinically appropriate, we supply it there and then — including prescription-only medicines under the national protocol.
Usually not — most sinus infections are viral and antibiotics will not help. Our pharmacist assesses you against the NHS clinical criteria and supplies antibiotics only where they are genuinely indicated. Either way you leave knowing what will actually help.
Most viral sinusitis improves within 2–3 weeks. If your symptoms have lasted around 10 days or more without improving, or are getting worse, that is the right time to come in.
Yes — the assessment is a free NHS service. If a prescription medicine is supplied, the standard NHS prescription charge applies unless you are exempt.
Severe pain, swelling around the eye, vision changes or feeling very unwell need urgent medical attention — we will direct you to the right NHS service immediately rather than treat you here.
